- Niger (State), officially republic of Niger, country enclosed by Occidental Africa, in 700 km of the sea. The borders, inherited from the colonization, are rectilinear and artificial. The majority of population are berber. It is limited to the North by Algeria and Libya, in the East by the Chad, in the South by Nigeria and Benin, and on the West by Burkina Faso and Mali. The total surface is of 1 267 000 km2. The capital is Niamey.
